Hello! đŸ‘‹đŸ» I’m Angela.

Since my youth, I’ve sensed a void in Church communications.

Interestingly, there’s a vocation built into my name (Angela, “God’s messenger”). Here's a glimpse into the story of how I've pursued that calling

Graphic & Web Design

As a young adult, I began providing graphic & web design services for Catholic ministries.

Interning with USAA’s youth relations magazine editor, I learned about audience relationships and cross-media marketing, realized I hated cubicles, and discovered a fantastical world called a design firm — where I gained a second mentor.

Theory & Theology

Entering St. Mary’s University, I dedicated myself to studying marketing, communications, and theology. In 2008, I participated in the first-ever Catholic New Media Celebration in Atlanta.

Landing the Creative Intern position at an ad agency provided me experience working on local and national campaigns for brands like Toyota, and taught me invaluable lessons. However, I opted not to continue my career there; God's calling rang loudly in my heart.

After writing my thesis, New Media, New Evangelization: The Unique Benefits of New Media and Why the Catholic Church Should Engage Them, I was humbled to hear from Brandon Vogt that it’d helped inspire his groundbreaking book, The Church and New Media.

Angela is one of the premier new media experts within the Catholic Church. She has an eye for attractive design, a keen understanding of technology, and she grasps the benefits and risks that new media bring to the Church.

Whether you're an individual Catholic, a small apostolate, a parish, a diocese, or even the Vatican, I strongly recommend Angela's new media services.

Pick My Brain

Through the 2009 Catholic New Media Celebration, I ‘happened’ to meet the man whom I would later marry, and the woman for whose apostolate I began volunteering as a graphic designer.

Since 2010, my full-time work in media and communications for that non-profit, Catholic evangelization apostolate has helped the team double in size, and I’ve gained experience in:

  • Low-budget marketing strategies

  • Writing & designing emails averaging open & click rates at least 2x the industry standard for nonprofits

  • Producing media — hundreds of podcasts, videos, radio & TV spots, broadcast programs, a documentary streaming series, in-person presentations, stage performances, event audio-visual (AV), and a museum exhibition

  • Mentoring, training, and supporting dozens of staff members, student interns, and volunteers in communicating and using media for evangelization

  • Applying Catholic values & Church teaching to daily decisions

  • Transforming communications by co-writing a new mission statement, identifying core values, and creating a communications style guidebook.

In my spare time, I’ve served as:

  • Host, panelist, and otherwise busy volunteer for SQPN building bridges between pop culture & faith

  • Speaker, teacher, and consultant in media, faith formation, and evangelization for Catholic religious & laity

  • Communications Animator for the Laudato Si' Movement Texas State Chapter

  • and an active member of my parish community.
